Abstract (EN)
In recent years, studies related to metal surface treatments have become important, especially in the iron and steel industry. Coatings made as an alternative to the phosphate coatings have gained importance in terms of reducing the environment, cost and workload. In this study, sodium stearate was studied as an alternative coating instead of phosphate coating. In this study, the corrosion resistance of sodium stearate and zinc phosphate coating was investigated and the results were compared. The corrosion resistances of both coatings were determined using potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy in 3.5% NaCl solution. From the data obtained as a result of the study, it was observed that the sodium stearate coating prevented the corrosion of steel in 3.5% NaCl solution. With the increase of the coating time, the amount of coating on the steel electrode surface increased and there was an increase in corrosion resistance. While the polarization resistance of the uncoated electrode in 3.5% NaCl was 1010 ohm; It was measured as 4200 ohms in zinc phosphate coating and 4300 ohms in sodium stearate coating. The sodium stearate coating was found to be as effective against corrosion as the commercially applied phosphate coating.
