Analysis of magnetic resonance spectroscopy data in highmagnetic field with amares technique

AIM: H-1 Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) is widely used to determine the location, type and intensity of diseases due to decreases and increases in metabolite constructions in tissues. this study evaluated the importance of AMARES technique for the processing steps, analysis and determination of metabolite concentrations of MRS signals obtained from phantoms on 7T MRI. METHODS: In this study, MRS signals were obtained by using STEAM and PRESS sequence methods in five different phantoms with 7 Tesla MRI devices. Metabolite analyzes were performed from the MRS spectrum of phantoms by AMARES technique in the jMRUI spectroscopy program. RESULTS: The AMARES technique was used to analyze the spectra obtained on the 7 Tesla MRI and the spectra with a homogeneous and uniform line were obtained. Metabolite concentrations were determined in parallel with the phantom reference values from the spectrum obtained by AMARES technique. Another finding was that the spectra obtained by STEAM and PRESS sequences were compared and the SNR (signal to aspect ratio) values in the spectra obtained by STEAM were higher than those obtained by PRESS. CONCLUSION: Because of the higher SNR value in MRS used in the diagnosis of disease, it may be suggested to use STEAM sequence according to PRESS. Using the AMARES technique in the JMRUI spectroscopy program which is a free program in the analysis of these signals, it was found to be an effective method for the determination of metabolite concentrations.
