Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the possibilities of using different chemicals with the sol-gel coating method were investigated in order to improve the metal adhesion in aluminum metallized BOPET films used in Pasteurization and Sterilization applications. TEOS, GLYMO and Amino-Poss chemicals in different formulas were applied to the BT 1011 23 μm film surface produced by Super Film Ambalaj San. ve Tic. A.S. The BOPET film surface has been modified with the Ormocer structure and its interface properties have been improved. The effects of different structures and formulas applied on the standard film structure were compared. After the sol-gel coating on the film surface, the film samples were coated with aluminum, and the structure and properties of the films were examined with FT-IR, DSC, SEM, EDX, AFM, contact angle, barrier, surface tension, metal adhesion, haze and gloss tests. According to test results, a thin film layer was obtained on the surface of the BOPET film with sol-gel coating. Although metallized coating of this structure with aluminum was achieved, it was observed that the chemical coatings did not provide the desired level of improvement in terms of metal adhesion. In GLYMO/TEOS coating studies, an increase in metal adhesion strength were observed; in Amino Poss coating studies, a significant improvement in barrier properties and an increase in metal adhesion strength were observed.
