Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to evaluate the use of high modulus columns (Jet Grout) in soil improvement and calculation methods, which is prepared as a graduate thesis in Sakarya University, Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences, Department of Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Program. In this study, soil, structural elements, and soil improvement area are modeled using different methods using the Plaxis finite element program. The results were investigated by comparing the settlement amounts before and after soil improvement. In this thesis, the basic and the ground environment are considered in 5 different ways. At first, the building load was placed on the natural ground without any improvement, and it was calculated that the seating would be 17,15 cm. In other calculations, the soil is being treated with jet grouting columns. However, the corresponding columns can be added to the system in different ways in the software used. Firstly, the columns were designed as a rod element (Model 1) and in this case the sitting amount was found to be 11,26 cm. In the other model, an interface element is placed around the above-mentioned rod elements (Model 2). In the calculations made in this way, the amount of sitting under the building load was 11,58 cm. In the later model, the area where the jet grout application is made is considered as a composite zone (Model 3). Using the new parameters of the reinforced soils, settlement calculations were made under the same load and it was understood that there would be 10,77 cm settlement in this model. With traditional assumptions and classical methods, it is concluded that seating is calculated to be 11,53 cm. As a result of these analyzes, it was determined that the improvement of the soil by Jet Grout method has a positive contribution to the problem of excessive seating on the ground.
