Abstract (EN)
This thesis aims to investigate the simplification of the rule base for Fuzzy Logic Control (FLC) and to study the effects of simplifying the rule base for fuzzy logic speed controllers in high-performance asynchronous motor drives. According to the literature, the design of FLC systems still relies on engineering skills and the expertise of specialists regarding the behavior of the controlled system. In other words, expert knowledge is required to design the Membership Functions (MFs), rule base, and control model. Recent studies have introduced simplified fuzzy rule approaches to reduce the number of fuzzy rules and computational burden, aiming to implement hardware applications at a lower cost. However, systematic procedures for simplifying FLC rule bases or FLC rules have not been adequately established in most of these methods. Therefore, this thesis proposes a methodological approach to design and simplify the FLC rule base for induction motor (IM) drives based on the second-order representation of IM drive systems' dynamic step response and phase plane trajectory.The use of a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) as a speed controller for Asynchronous Motors such as IM has attracted considerable interest as it has been proven to offer superior performance compared to traditional controllers. The FLC approach is an effective way to control systems with nonlinear, complex, and uncertain mathematical models. Asynchronous motor drives are widely used in various industrial applications such as traction systems, electric vehicles, and household appliances. However, FLC systems might increase the computational burden of the overall machinery drive system, potentially resulting in low performance. A robust controller is required for high-performance drives due to reasons like reference speed changes, load disturbances, inertia changes, and nonlinearity.
