The effect of insulation plaster on the strength of concrete exposed to high temperature

Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was investigated how plaster and thermal insulation plaster affect the concrete compressive strength in concretes exposed to high temperatures. 10 cm cube concrete samples were prepared. The prepared samples were covered with 1, 2 and 3 cm thermal insulation plaster and rough plaster. After the samples were kept at 300°C, 450°C and 600°C for 60, 90 and 120 minutes, their plasters were peeled off and their compressive strengths were measured. The same applications were made for 10 cm unplastered samples. The changes in compressive strength of unplastered, rough plastered and thermal insulation plastered concrete samples exposed to high temperature were evaluated. As a result of the study, a correlation was established between temperature, plaster thickness and compressive strength according to the obtained values. By using insulation plasters, it has been determined that the concrete will be affected more slowly by high temperature and there will be less decrease in compressive strength.
