Özet (EN)

The university libraries, positioned as central hubs for research, bear the responsibility of eztending services to all users. Given that students form the largest demographic, university libraries play a pivotal role in fostering equal educational opportunities. To ensure educational equity, it is imperative that these libraries not only cater to traditional education students but also extend their services to those engaged in open and distance learning programs. Consequently, this study endeavors to explore whether open and distance learning students actively utilize library services to fulfill their information needs, while also assessing their awareness of the available services. Additionally, the research delves into whether libraries are tailoring specific services for this particular group and engaging in awareness-building activities concerning library services. To gather insights into the experiences of open and distance learning students, data was collected and analyzed through a comprehensive survey. The results reveal a notable lack of or low awareness among students regarding the array of library services available to them. The study underscores the necessity for libraries to take proactive measures in addressing the unique requirements of open and distance learning students. While illuminating the existing challenges within university libraries concerning this student demographic, the study puts forth recommendations aimed at fortifying the role of libraries in supporting open and distance learning initiatives.
