Yurtkur in higher education

II ABSTRACT MASTER THESIS "YURTKUR" IN HIGHER EDUCATION Yahya PASİNLİOI?LU 2002 Page 97 Jury: Assist.Prof.Ali Sinan BİLGİLİ Assist.Prof.SeIahattin TOZLU Assist.Prof.Tuncay CEYLAN "Yurtkur" was founded in 1961 on article 351 to introduce better possibilities of higher education and contribute to social and cultural development of univirsity students through providing them with grants, accommodations. With its 20 regional and 191 Local directorates it carries out its responsibilities under the control of the Turkish Ministery of Education. "Yurtkur" provides accommodation for almast 200.000 students and grants for more than 400.000 Woreover, it supports students socio-cultural and sport activities, and extends the pscho-social services for producing solutions for their problems. It also contributes to their better feeding. Students are usually faced with some problems such as over-crowded and inconuenieut rooms, insufficient services of cantin and cafeterias, strict rules of the dormiton'es lack of mutual understanding and affection betcueen officials and resideuts, lacak of public transportation and economic difficulties, These problems should in no time be solved. In this study, as a result of careful analysis of u'an'ous new models, an ideal one is introduced to get rid of all these problems.
