Boost type dc-dc converters are widely used at the front end of severalpower electronic systems to obtain a high dc bus voltage, and to bringthe line current in phase with the line voltage. However, especially thereverse recovery of the diode causes high power losses, resulting inlower efficiency, and even reduces life time in these converters. Atopology that has been suggested in the literature but left unrealized,has been analyzed, built and tested in this thesis. This 400-W converteris more complicated but more efficient with respect to the originalconverter as it utilizes soft switching.
