Abstract (EN)

Luleburgaz has been under the dominance of many states throughout history. The Ottoman State, which is one of these states, conquered Luleburgaz in 1362. The expeditions towards Balkan states during the Ottoman Era caused that many important architectural activities were organized and many buildings like mosques, public baths, bridges and fountains were built. For this reason, the city developed in a constant manner both in economic and social terms. However, the Ottoman dominance that lasted fore more than 550 years ended with the occupation of the Greeks after the First World War. Trakya Paşaeli Müdafaa-i Hukuk Cemiyeti was established against the occupation in Edirne and every effort was spent to defend the Eastern Thrace. However, despite all efforts, the occupation could not be prevented. Greeks did many oppression towards state officiers and Muslim and Jewish people during the occupation that lasted between 1919-1922. The Ottoman State ignored these oppressions due to the pressure of the Allied Forces. However, the National Struggle movement led by Mustafa Kemal Pasha reacted against the occupation that lasted in Luleburgaz and in Eastern Thrace, and Luleburgaz was rescued from the occupation of the enemy on November 8, 1922.
