SPEED CONTROL OF TRAVELLING WAVE ULTRASONIC MOTORWITH A MICROCONTROLLER(M.Sc. Thesis)Hasan UZELGAZ UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYSeptember 2006ABSTRACTThe arm of this thesis is to implement, speed control of travelling waveultrasonic motor (USM) with PIC microcontroller. A digitally controlled drivesystem was developed in order to drive the motor. Driving frequency was usedas a control input in speed control. Speed information was obtained by 500-pprincremental encoder coupled with the motor shaft. Measurement of motor speedwith a microcontroller was provided by cycling square wave signal obtainedfrom encoder coupled with the motor.
