The first ages of the Islamic Akaid according to Yusuf Ziya Yörükân

Yusuf Ziya Yörükân lived in the first years of the Republic, which was a transition period, the last periods of the Ottoman State and the modernization began to become one of the leading names of the period with his studies in Islamic sciences. He made important contributions to Islamic thought by working in many fields of Islamic sciences such as Kalam, History of Islamic Sects and Islamic History, Sociology, Philosophy. He made studies on the Sociology of Durkheim, which was new even in the west during his lifetime, and became a pioneer in this field by trying to adapt the social-positivist approach he considered as a socialist approach to the History of Sects. Yörükân was not indifferent to the current problems of its time, and became one of the leading names in the search for innovation with many solutions. His studies in the field of Kalam were mostly in the form of examining the historical development of the Islamic Akaid in a chronological context. He emphasized the necessity of re-evaluating the formation process of Islamic Akaid under the light of political and social events of the period, and proposed new methods in this field. Ehl-i Sünnet akaid in general, in particular, on Mâtürîd, has done many studies in this field and has written works. The work to be done on these works has a special importance in terms of introducing the Turkish Islamic tradition, and this study should be seen as a step towards filling the gap in this field.
