Abstract (EN)
Over the past quarter century, technological developments in industrial applications have focused on reducing system weight and extending the service life of engineering materials to achieve higher efficiency. Consequently, lightweight metallic materials and alloys such as aluminum, magnesium, and titanium are widely used in various sectors, including automotive, aviation, space and defense industries, and maritime applications. These materials possess remarkable properties such as low density, a high strength-to-weight ratio, specific stiffness, fracture toughness, high electrical conductivity, excellent electromagnetic shielding capability, high damping capacity, recyclability, biocompatibility, biodegradability, and non-toxicity. However, their relatively low mechanical and tribological performance under extreme loads, limited toughness, and poor corrosion resistance in aggressive environments restrict their broader industrial use. To overcome these limitations, surface modification techniques are required to enhance material performance. Micro-Arc Oxidation (MAO) is an electrochemical coating technique developed to improve the surface properties of lightweight metallic materials. Through this method, stable ceramic composite coatings with high wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and strong adhesion are formed on the substrate within an electrolytic solution. In this thesis, risk factors associated with the MAO surface coating process will be identified and evaluated using the Fine-Kinney method, an occupational health and safety risk analysis approach. The study aims to determine the impact levels of potential hazards and develop appropriate preventive measures. The findings are expected to contribute to occupational health and safety practices and provide new insights and recommendations for the literature.
