The effects of environmental factors on swimming school students' expectacion and satisfaction levels (a case of Elazig)

Swimming is one of the few sports that done in water and provides perfect shape for bodily development. In all societies, swimming recognizes as the main sport and the social and psychological characteristics of the individual sport that offers the best development. The aim of this study to determination of expectation and satisfaction levels of children participating in swimming in Elazig. A total of 221 athletes consists 110 (49.7%) male athletes and 111 (50.3%) female athletes which participating in Yakup Kılıç Swimming School connected to Elazig Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sport in Elazig province included in research. Age of participants range from 12 to 17 which continuing to school. Approximately 60% of students consists athletes which beginners to sport of swimming. Data were collected through a questionnaire consisting of three parts. In first part, 10 articles about personal information of participants; in second part, 11 opinion articles aims to measure athletes expectations; in third part 13 opinion articles aims to measure influencing level of environmental factors to athletes was included. In research conducted to determine expectations and satisfaction levels of children involved in sport of swimming school in swimming school, significant data were obtained on behalf of development of the sport of swimming. Swimmers stated that they like swimming, want to live a healthy life, wishes to become top athletes, want to have status in society in terms of being athletes and wants to do this sport for improve their self-coincidence and concept of self, but stated that obstructed by lack of training places and tools and bad cheering of audience.
