Examination of quality of life and sports commitment level of individuals interested in swimming sports

The aim of this study is to examine the quality of life and sports commitment levels of individuals interested in swimming. It is thought that sports such as swimming are effective in increasing the quality of life and ensuring physical and mental health. The sample group of the study consisted of a total of 302 people, 120 women and 182 men, between the ages of 18-39, who were interested in swimming sports living in Gümüşhane province. The people were reached through a questionnaire. The participants were presented with a personal information form, the sports commitment scale adapted to Turkish by Kayhan et al. and the quality of life scale prepared by experts in 18 countries within the World Health Organization. The data obtained were analyzed with Spss v23.0 program. Skewness and Kurtosis tests were performed to determine whether the data had a normal distribution. When these two values (Kurtosis and Skewness) are between -1.5 and +1.5, the distribution is considered normal. The difference of the parameters with two or less variables from the normally distributed data was determined by Independent Sample T Test, and the significant difference level of the parameters with more than two variables was determined by ANOVA test method. According to the results of ANOVA test, the level of effectiveness between the variables that were found to be significant between them was determined using Post Doc Turkey analysis. When the data obtained as a result of the research are evaluated, it is seen that swimming makes positive contributions to people's quality of life and sports commitment levels in different sub-dimensions.
