Abstract (EN)

Due to the depletion of fossil energy resource and its harmful effects to the environment, the renewable energy systems become popular and draw attention. When compared to the other renewable-energy sources, photovoltaic (PV) energy has advantages such as no harmful effects to environment and animals, minimum maintenance cost and minimum noise pollution. Grid-connected PV energy is the most common usage areas of solar energy. PV system needs an inverter to obtain an output with the desired frequency and amplitude. Also, grid-connected PV energy system should have buck and boost ability to provide steady power. Nowadays, Z-source inverter (ZSI) has been widely studied since proposed to overcome restrictions of conventional inverter and reduce number of switching device. ZSI topology can carry out buck/boost and invert in one step. In this thesis, ZSI based grid-connected PV energy generation system with three phase has been modelled in Matlab/Simulink environment. Sinusoidal pulse width modulation scheme used for the switching elements of ZSI. In model, PV array is formed 100 parallel and 8 series connected PV cell. Simulation results has been showed that ZSI is suitable and efficient for PV power system. Keywords: PV power systems, inverter, Z-source inverter, Sinusoidal pulse width modulation.
