Executive and teacher's opinions on academic education of generation Z

The most defining feature of the Z generation, which consists of all students who have formal education from primary to secondary education, is their interaction with technological devices that are constantly online. This interaction continues in the education life of Generation Z, who live a life so intertwined with technology. In this period when the positive and negative effects of technology on education are investigated, the aim of this study is to find answers to important questions such as what the personal characteristics of generation Z are, what their academic achievements are and how they can be increased. The sample of the study, which was prepared in the phenomenology pattern, which is one of the qualitative research methods, consists of 12 teachers and 9 school administrators working in secondary schools. The study group of the research was formed by the easily accessible sampling method. A semi-structured interview form was used to collect the data, and the collected data were analyzed by content analysis method. Among the results obtained, it is stated that traditional education methods have become meaningless for this generation, and as a result of living a continuous, fast and variable life, there are individuals who are impatient, live their lives fast and have attention deficit, and therefore they are seen as academically unsuccessful. In order to prevent this, solutions such as teachers' providing technology-oriented development and making the curriculum simpler were presented.
