A DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEM FOR THE VEHICLE ROUTINGPROBLEM WITH TIME WINDOWS(M.Sc. Thesis)Mehmet Aydın TOKAYLIGAZI UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYNovember 2005ABSTRACTVehicle routing problem with time windows (VRPTW), aims to design routesusing possible minimum number of vehicles and possible shortest total distancefrom one main depot to a set of geographically scattered customers (demandpoints). Because of its modeling structure, VRPTW is suitable to solve reallife decision problems, such as school bus routing, mail, newspaper delivery, fuel oil delivery and municipal waste collection. For this reason, there are alot of research in the literature. Designing a decision support system (DSS) forVRPTW enables planning of routes in an easy way and in real time conditions. For this purpose, in this research a first DSS which uses VRPTW solvingalgorithms is designed, its implementation is explained and its architecture ispresented.Science Code : 919Key Words : Vehicle Routing Problem with Time Windows, Decision SupportSystems, Ant Colony OptimizationPage Number : 129Adviser : Prof. Dr. Serpil EROL
