Abstract (EN)
Since our country is on a very active seismic zone in terms of earthquakes occurring throughout the World, there have been great financial and spiritual loses for years. That's why, conditions resulted from these earth movements are tried to be under control with new earthquake regulations in last years. There is a great increase on number of multistory buildings around the world and in our country which covers a lot of active seismic-zones in recent years. It is very important to select the type of structural system of the concrete structures in terms of their structural behavior under seismic effect. Reinforced concrete shear walls which provide a great resistance to the concrete structures against earthquake are very effective components for the concrete buildings when deciding (designing) the structural systems. In this study, effects of shear walls on structural behavior of multistory buildings under seismic loads are investigated. For this purpose, two different 30 story buildings are modelled in SAP2000. One is composed of just frame systems, the other one is composed of both frame systems and shear-walls as well. Then, these models are tested by nonlinear dynamic analyzes through time history method. Finally, analyze results of two models are examined separately, and existing displacements on model compared to each other. Then, intended level of performance results were checked to be sure if the results correspond to expected values or not. All the committed analyses and evaluations which are done this study indicate that using shear walls is significantly reducing the level of damage and increasing the level of performance of structures when selecting the bearing system of multistory reinforced concrete constructions.
