Developing a web based phonological awareness education program (FONFAR) to improve low phonological awareness skills

The research goal is to develop a web based phonological awareness education program (FONFAR) to improve low phonological awareness skills for the children and teachers. In order to reach this goal, ADDIE which means Analysis, Design, Develop, Implement and Evaluation has been selected as the baseline to develop a web based phonological awareness education program. In this research, Type 1 Design and Development Research Method (DDR), one of the desing based research methods, has been used. In the analysis part, a focus group discussion has been performed with six teachers. On another step of needs analysis, A Phonological Awareness Knowledge Test has been developed by the researcher. This test has been has been implemented on 246 participants consist of preschool teachers, special education teachers and primary scholl teachers. In desing and develop process, five teacher informing modules has been prepared. Furthermore, four student modules (include 208 teaching activites) which cover entire steps and duties of phonological awareness skills has been created. In implementation process, there teachers (one of each, preschool teacher, special education teacher and primary school teacher) have completed FONFAR's teacher modules pilot scheme, whereas three pre-schooler students have fulfilled FONFAR's student modules pilot scheme. The results which has been obtained by pilot scheme shows that FONFAR modules have positive impact on teachers' and tudent's phonological awareness knowledge and skills. These social validity findings display that FONFAR's social validity is high.
