Comparative analysis of 10 - 12 years old children with normal and above-normal intelligence level by anxiety level and parental attitudes

In this study, a comparative analysis was made according to anxiety level and parental attitudes of children whose intelligence level was considered normal and above normal. The sample of study consists of 64 students between ages of 10 and 12 who participated from various private schools in Beşiktaş district of Istanbul province. Data were collected through self-report questionnaires in the study. R. B. Cattell 2A Intelligence Test, Spence Anxiety Scale for Children and Parent Attitude Scale were used. This study was accepted as a preliminary study, as the target sample number was not reached due to pandemic conditions. Research Results; Confirmatory factor analysis for Parental Attitude Scale and Spence Children's Anxiety Scale was not sufficient for this sample. According to KMO, RMSEA, SRMR, CFI, NNFI and GFI index values, it is predicted that the higher sample size, the better model fit will increase statistically significantly. There was no statistically significant difference was found between anxiety levels of children with above normal intelligence and anxiety levels of children with normal intelligence. There was no statistically significant relationship between parental attitude and the child's anxiety level. In conclusion, since this research is a preliminary study, it is thought that tests to be performed under normal conditions except for pandemic conditions will affect results.
