Abstract (EN)

Asbestos used in the production of brake lining has a negative impact on human health, researchers have been searching for new materials asbestos alternative. In this study, the effects of the use of olive seed (ZC) powder, an ecological material, on the wear properties of the brake pads were investigated. 5 different compositions were created by adding in rations of 3%, 6%, 9%, 12% and 15% by weight of olive seed powder. In the production of linings, olive seed were used as reinforcement material, phenolic resin as binder, barite as filler material, bronze as friction regulator, graphite as solid lubricant and alumina as abrasive. The powder components were mixed at 1000 rpm for 12 minutes for sample production The prepared mixtures were pressing by unidirectional press at 10 MPa pressure, 150 ° C pressing temperature for 15 min. In order to obtain a smooth surface, firstly sanding and then ultrasonic cleaning were performed. The density, hardness, abrasion rate and friction coefficient values of the samples were determined and examined by taking SEM images. Density, hardness, pin-on disk abrasion tests were performed on the samples taken from a commercial lining and the results were compared. Pin on Disc wear test was conducted at two different speeds and pressures. Thus, the effect of velocity and pressure on the coefficient of friction and the rate of wear were studied. At the end of the study, it was observed that hardness and density values decreased as ZC ratio increased. It was determined that rate of wear and the coefficient of friction increased with the increase of speed, and the rate of wear and the coefficient of friction decreased with the increase of pressure.
