The comparison of effects of traditional and performance based instructional plans in achieving goals for students with mental retarded

The main purpose of this research is to determine that whether instruction plans which prepared regarding what mentally retarded students can do and regarding traditional method cause that students achieve their goals or not. The design of this research is two AB design which was one of the single subject designs was used as a research design. The subjects of the research were consisted of 6 out of 7 students who attend Special Classroom in Yenimahalle G. O. P. Primary School in 2007- 2008 Education period. To collect the research data ? Counting and Adding by Beginning From the Any Given Number and Reading the Clocks Scales? were develeped and used. In analysis of data obtained in the research, the graphical analysis was used. The findings gained in the research are as follows: The instruction implemented by ?Instruction Plan that was Prepared Regarding with What Mentally Disabled Students Can Do in Maths? lead these students to achieve their goals. The instruction implemented by ?Instruction Plan that was Prepared by Traditional Method? did not lead to all of the mentally disabled students to achieve thier goals in Maths; but, desired results were attained in only 1 and 2 numbered students by the instruction plan that was prepared regarding traditional method. The instruction implemented by ?Instruction Plan that was Prepared Regarding with What Mentally Disabled Students Can Do in Maths? lead these students to generalize their gained aims to different environment, material and question.The instruction implemented by ?Instruction Plan that was Prepared Regarding with What Mentally Disabled Students Can Do in Maths? lead these students to maintain their gained aims for 7, 10 and 15 days.
