Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of teaching self-care skills to children with mental retardation by the song.5 mentally retarded students participated in the research as the subjects. One of the students was choosen for the pilot study, while the other one was choosen as a subject of substitution. Hence, this study was carried out with 3 students with mental retardation.The model of multiple probe design between subjects that take places in research models of single subject design was used in this study. This study consists of four phases: probe, teaching, generalization and observation.As a result of this research, it is observed that teaching self-care skills by the song is an effective way for children with mental retardation. In additon to this, those children, that has already acquired the relevant skill, can perform it without the song.Keywords: Music, Mental Retardation
