Abstract (EN)

The research focused on purpose of examining the effects of basic gymnastics training on self-care skills and some motoric features in individuals with intermediate mental disabilities. The research was designed with experimental study model with pre-test and post-test. . The universe of the research in Elazığ Elit Special Education And Rehabilition Center, while was found 52 mental disabilities participants, 12 sedentary participants were take part in the sample group. Basic gymnastics training was applied to the experimental group along 16 weeks, and the control group was included only in the tests. Before application, the first measurements of the participants were taken and " Self care skills rough asssessment form" which was filled by their parents so was determined current state of self-care skills. After 8 weeks of rest, while taking the permanance measurements were observed statistical differences. SPSS.22.0 package program was used to in statistical analyze of research, The Wilcoxon Test was used in dependent comparisons and the Mann Whitney U Test in independent comparisons to compare the pretest-posttest data of the participants who tested for normality with the Shapiro-Wilk test. As a result; It was determined that the applied program had positive effects on the demographic variables on the experimental group participants, , according to the results of the permanence test, if not provided of application program, which was noticed decline in the achievements. It can be said that, the adapted basic gymnastics program, which is contributed to the development of the basic motoric features of mental disabilities humans, this contribution is effective in practicing self-care skills on its own.
