Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of video modeling (VM) in teaching hotel house-keeping skills to young adults with intellectual disabilities. Maintance and generalization effects of video modeling were investigated in this study as well. Furthermore, acquisition of video-based non target skills and social validity of the study was also assessed by asking the teachers? ideas on teaching hotel house-keeping skills by video modeling to their students and asking the people?s ideas, who work in hotel house-keeping sector, on the students? performance at target skills and the acceptability of the students? performances and their ideas on being able to be employed of these students. In the study, some data were collected for both interobservers reliability and procedural reliability.The effectiveness of VM was evaluated by using a multiple probe across behaviors design and replicated across four adults with mild intellectual disabilities whose ages range from 18 to 21. All instructional and maintenance sessions occured in a standart room at a hotel in city center. Generalization of skills was assessed in a suit-room of hotel.Results indicated that VM, was effective in teaching hotel house-keeping skills to young adults with intellectual disabilities. Skills, which were maintained over time, were further generialized at high levels to suit room in the same hotel. Assessment of video-based non target skills data showed that one participant acquired 100% correct on non target skills while the other three participants, whose performances range from 33% to 66%, could not acquire at such high levels.Key words: Job skills, hotel house-keeping skills, video modeling, intellectual disability, non target skills.
