The effect of video modeling to children with mentally retarded on teaching ability of cooking macaroni

The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of video modeling to children with mentally retarded on teaching ability of cooking macaroni. To reach to this aim, prepared individualized education program was applied to three mentally retarded children. The dependent variable of this research is to provide children the cooking ability which is essential for daily life. The independent variable of this research is education program which is based on video modeling. The design of this study is a multiple probe design across subjects that are a model of multiple baseline design. Baseline, training, following and generalizing sessions was organized to evaluate the effect of video modeling on teaching cooking macaroni. Whole skills approaches were taken as basis on teaching the skill. Videos of cooking macaroni were recorded as material on this research. These records were used on training sessions. Research findings show that video modeling to children with mentally retarded on teaching skill is effective. They the skill for after teaching, and they generalized this skill to different tools and materials in different times and circumstances.
