Abstract (EN)
This research study was carried out to compare the risk and frequency of injury among 3-6 years old children with and without intellectual disabilities. This descriptive study was conducted with the mothers of children aged 3-6 and who were attending one kindergarten and twelve different Special Education and Rehabilitation Center in the province of Izmir. The sampling was consisted of the mothers with intellectually disabled children (n=100) and without intellectual disabled children (n=100). The study data were obtained through the Children and Family Information Form, the Injury Behaviour Checklist, and the Survey for Frequency of Injuries in Children, and afterwards evaluated by using the number, percentage distribution, distribution criteria, t test, and chi-square test.The risk of injury was found 0.9 times more for intellectually disabled children compared to without intellectual disabled children (Odds ratio = 0910) (p < 0.01). The frequency of injuries experienced throughout the last two months was determined higher among children with intellectual disabilities than children without intellectual disabilities.
