The Effect of Ziya Gokalp to the religion

SUMMARY THE AFFECT OF ZIYA GOKALP TO THE RELIGION EDUCATION Key Words: Education, Religion Education, Constitutional Monarchy, Intellectual, Affect, Republic, Change, Gökalp. The wonder for learning spirit which shapes constitution of Turkish Republic and be inspired of by the statesmen is the fundamental of our research. Ziya Gökalp who is known as the most affective founder of Turkish Republic's theoric founders. The most important factor for changing in the education which we chose is important here we wanted to make research in the field of religion education on Ziya Gökalp's era and after him according to contemporary education view "There is no more affective basic belief on education but religion'TCramer and Browne, 1974: 10]. Ziya Gökalp's life, his work and the factors that affect his thought structure was investigated in the first chapter of our research. Gökalp's ideas about religion and the subjects of religion are not neglected in the second chapter, in the second chapter, the second constitutional monarchy term which Ziya Gökalp and more intellectual people make thought conflicts each other, were investigated. Why this term is important that it's a preparing term for Republic term. In this term, like all the other fields including education, we entered to modem and changed Turkey. In this chapter, changing winds, Ziya Gökalp and education were investigated together. In the third chapter; Gökalp who knows his contemporary political and thought structures well, tried to find a direction for Turkey which is on the way in changing process. Because of this, firstly Gökalp's ideas were investigated about education and religion education. In order to decide Gökalp's ideas are true or not, first of all Gökalp's relations with dominant powers were investigated. Gökalp's ideas about religion education was showed. Then his affects to the politicians who in change at that times were investigated. In conclusion, Gökalp's affects on religion education were tried to show. V
