Abstract (EN)

The central aim of the study is to show the historical process of Zoğrafyon Greek High School which was opened in the last period of the Ottoman Empire (1893) and actively provides education today; the study reveals how it was affected by the developments caused by the political tensions between Türkiye and Greece, especially during the Republican Period. In addition, with the change in education policies, the process of change that minority educational institutions undergo through the institutions, organizations, and people with whom they are politically, socially, and economically related is also mentioned. The research was conducted by benefiting from the limited archives of the School (Zoğrafyon High School), former students, and other first and second-hand sources. As a result of the research, it was noticed that Zoğrafyon High School which was opened in the last period of the Ottoman Empire was especially influenced by the political events that took place during the Republican Period, and it was also observed that its number of students declined in proportion to the constantly reducing Greek population in Istanbul.
