In this study, 242 Apodemus spp. and Myodes glareolus specimens colected from 15 localities in province Zonguldak, Çaycuma district wereused. Brain tissues of these specimens were scanned for Rabies virüs (RABV). Muscle and spleen tissues of 45 specimens collected from localities, where we obtained positive bands were observed,to investigate genetical diversity via microsatellite markers. Even results of PCR, 8 specimens are positive for RABV, positivity could not be support with sequence results. According to genetical characterization, 60 different alleles belong to Myodes populations and 96 different alleles belong to Apodemus populations were determined. Heterozygosity (Ho) of Myodes populations were changing between 0,000 - 0,625, and heterozygosity of Apodemus populations were between 0,367 - 0,833. Fis values that calculated for populations were changing between -0,233 - 0,600 for Myodes populations, and between -1 - 0,056 for Apodemus populations. It was observed that there is no deviation of Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium for theMyodes populations. For the Apodemus populations, there was only 2 locuses from Filyos populations have a of Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium deviation. With this study, for the first time, RABV scanning of rodents by reverse transcriptase PCR method and sequence analysis and genetical characterization of Myodes and Apodemus populations by microsatellite markers had been conducted for Turkey. Obtained results were provide a basis for determinating the corelation between rodent populations and rabies virus.
