Abstract (EN)
Objective: Our study aimed to determine the ranges of normal immunoglobulin levels in the Balıkesir province region. Primary immunodeficiency is a group of genetically inherited inhomogeneous diseases that cause susceptibility to recurrent infections, allergy, autoimmunity, lymphoproliferation, granulomatous diseases and malignancies. The most valuable screening test in the diagnosis of immune deficiencies is immunoglobulin levels. Materials and Methods: 806 patients between the ages of 0 months and 18 years were included in the cross-sectional planned study between May 2014 and July 2022. In order to determine the normal immunoglobulin levels of children according to their age groups, a retrospective evaluation was made of the immunoglobulin levels studied in children who applied to the outpatient clinic for healthy children follow-up and who did not have any chronic diseases in the physical examination and examinations. Findings: 43.8% of the participants included in the study were female and 56.2% were male. The average IgA values of the participants were 1.15±0.7, the IgM average values were 0,99±6,62, the IgG average values were 9±3.8, and the IgE average values were 145.7±359.6. When the gender and immunoglobulin values of the participants were examined, no difference was found between gender and IgA, while IgM and IgG values of girls were found to be significantly higher than boys. IgE values in boys were found to be significantly higher than in girls. When the immunoglobulin distribution values of the participants were examined according to their age groups, it was determined that the average values increased with age in all immunoglobulin distribution groups and there was a statistically significant difference. Conclusion: Immunoglobulin levels are the primary screening test in primary immunodeficiency diseases and vary regionally. It is important to determine the normal ranges of immunoglobulin levels according to region, age and gender to be evaluated in the diagnosis and follow-up of immunodeficiency patients. In our study, average IgM, IgG and [8] IgE values in the entire 0-18 age group were found to be different in terms of gender. In addition, when the patients were divided into sub-age groups, it was determined that the average IgM, IgG and IgE values differed between genders in some age groups, but not in all age groups. In this respect, it is necessary to evaluate not only by age but also by gender. The results in our study are not fully compatible with other similar studies. From this perspective, it is clear that large case series across the country are needed. Keywords: Immunoglobulin, normal levels, frequent illness, antibodie, PID.
