Examination of 10-12 age group students' attitudes towards coding

The aim of this study is to determine the attitudes of 10 - 12 age-group students towards coding. In addition, it was examined whether the students' attitudes differed significantly in terms of gender, class. The research is a descriptive study using the survey model. The study group of the research consisted of a total of 135 students, 64 girls and 71 boys, studying at Bahçeşehir College in Çekmeköy (district of Istanbul) during the 2022-2023 academic year. Data was collected considering the Attitude Towards Coding Education Scale. Frequency, percentage and arithmetic means were used to analyze the data, as well as independent samples t-test and one-way anova for intergroup comparisons. As a result of the study, it was determined that students had high positive attitudes towards coding. In addition, it was observed that male students, 5th graders and younger students had more positive attitudes towards coding. This research is important in terms of guiding the future research that will be conducted.
