Abstract (EN)
In the study, it was aimed to examine the effect of Core training to be applied for 8 weeks to male swimmers in the 11-12 age group on butterfly style swimming performance of 50 meters and 100 meters. Since the effect of core training program on swimming performance will be investigated in the research, experimental research method is used. Since the examination will be made on a single group, a single group pre-test-post-test experimental design was applied. The study group of the research includes 16 male athletes in the 11-12 age group who are in the Istanbul BBSK and swimming in the same group. Athletes were determined by purposeful sampling method. Within the scope of the study, the athletes in the experimental group were given core training for 8 weeks. The pre-test was taken before starting 8-week training sessions. The last test was done after the training program was completed. Among the tests and measurements applied are anthropometric measurements, physical performance tests and measurement of swimming performance. The data obtained in the study were analyzed in the SPSS 25.0 package program. Descriptive statistical findings were obtained in the evaluation of the data. Wilcoxon test and Mann Whitney U Test were used to determine whether there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test measurements of the group. The obtained findings were evaluated at 95% confidence interval. Considering the physical performance tests as a result of the analysis, while there is no significant difference between the pre-test and post-test data in plank test values; It was concluded that there is a statistically significant difference between pre-test and post-test measurements in shuttle, push-up and medicine ball launch tests. According to this result, it can be said that core training has a significant effect on the physical performance of 11-12 age group swimmers. When the swimming performance tests were examined, it was concluded that there was a statistically significant difference between 50 m swimming performance and 100 m swimming performance pre-test and post-test measurements. In line with these findings, it was concluded that Core training has an effect on swimming performance and improves the swimming performance of athletes. As a result of the research, it was suggested to include Core trainings in the training program of the developmental age athletes in order to increase the physical performance and swimming performance of swimmers.
