Abstract (EN)
The aim of the study is to examine the relationship between the belief in a just world, which basically advocates the idea that everyone gets what they deserve and deserved what they get, and psychological well-being, which is the power to be productive in personal and social life, to overcome difficult experiences, to realize one's own potential, and trust in the Almighty Creator. The participants, who were determined by purposive sampling method, were 393 young adults aged 18-20, all graduates of Imam-Hatip High School in Kütahya. In order to reach the participants, support was received from the alumni groups established by Imam-Hatip High School graduates. In this study, a quantitative, relational survey model was used. Data were analyzed using quantitative data analysis techniques. Fair World Belief for Adolescents, Warwick Edinburg Mental Well-Being Scale and God Image Scale were used as data collection tools. Since the scale scores were normally distributed, parametric tests were applied. In the relationship tests between the variables, it was determined that there was a positive and moderately significant relationship between the participants' general just world belief levels and their levels of trust in God and psychological well-being, while there was a positive and low level significant relationship between their personal just world belief levels and their levels of trust in God and psychological well-being. In the mediation tests, the indirect mediation role of psychological well-being in the effect from trust in God to just world belief was determined. In the predictive tests, it was determined that the regression coefficient from general just world belief to psychological well-being was not statistically significant. The standardized regression coefficient from personal just world belief to psychological well-being was 0.44 and this coefficient was statistically significant. The standardized regression coefficient from trust in God to psychological well-being was 0.16 and this coefficient was statistically significant. In addition, when the ratio of standardized regression coefficients was examined, it was found that the personal just world belief variable was approximately 3 times (0.44/0.16=2.75 ≅ 3) more effective than the trust in God variable in explaining the change in psychological well-being. It was concluded that personal just world belief has a very important role in protecting the psychological health of young adults.
