This thesis aims to examine the photographicrepresentation of the Eastern women, in nineteenthcentury. The theoretical framework of this study is basedupon the formation of the representation of the ?Easternwomen? in the context of Orientalist discourse. Theemergence of Orientalist studio photography is analyzedwith the thematic classifications of the Eastern women inphotography. In addition, how the Western subjectconstitutes himself through the agency of desire in termsof the images of the Eastern women is discussed.
