The population exchange of Turks-Greeks in Turkish novel after 1990

ABSTRACT The population exchange of Turks and Greeks is a multi dimentional, complex issue. This population exchange has a distinctive place in the world's history. It has been a reference to different population exchange programs afterwards. Aproximatelly 2.000.000 people changed their places in a short time. According to the treaty between the states, it is mandated that returning back homeland is impossible. There have been novels among the Tukish novels which refer to the population exchange or there have been novels which have immigrant characters, but until 1990's there was almost no novel focussing on the population exchange issue as a main theme. After 1990's this issue has gained increasing popularity among the Turkish novelists. In this study the population exchange of Turks and Greeks in Turkish novel after 90's is examined.
