Abstract (EN)
At the beginning of the 20th century, the imperialist western powers, ruling about three-quarters of the 200 million Muslims worldwide, tried to reach the heart of the societies under their rule, besides maintaining their power. The modern missionary spirit that awakened especially in America and Europe was cut out for this purpose. The missionaries conveyed the religious, social, cultural and economic structures of the Muslim societies they serve to the countries they are affiliated with through books and reports. However, they could not achieve the success they desired among Muslims. At 1900s, American Protestant missionaries believed that it would be beneficial to gather experienced missionaries under a conference roof. The conferences titled "The Muslim World Today" and "Islam and Mission" were the result of these goals. The basis of this dissertation, which aims to present the Islamic world from the point of view of missionaries at the beginning of the 20th century, is the speeches made in these conferences and the evaluation of these speeches from various aspects. The missionaries, with the information they give in their own mouth, do not only have religious goals. They showed they are a part of the new world order to be established in line with the western world view they represent. With the help of this study, it will be clearly understood how important the missionaries have played in this success of the western powers that have gained an indisputable advantage in political, social and cultural terms in the process up until today.
