Abstract (EN)
Political, social and economical structures of the societies are shaped by the conditions of the period they are involved in. To investigate properly the political, legal, economical and cultural conditions of any period is only possible through the observation of the positive and negative reactions of the society of that period to these conditions. The court registries are very important for local historical researches because of the registration of every kind of incidents of that period society. Mardin Court Registry numbered 235 which is the subject of the thesis is a very important record book bringing the structure of Mardin between 1858-1861 in relation to the legal, administrative, social and economical structures of Ottoman to the present days. The most important aspect of this record book may be that it includes the clash between legal and administrative applications around Mardin developing after Tanzimat period. Furthermore, it is a very important record book including the content of the writings between administrative center and the region, discharging, appointment, political conditions, social and economical matters of that period.This study has been made to evaluate legal, administrative, social-economical structures in Mardin between 1858-1861 within the frame of Mardin Court Registry numbered 235 .This study consists of introduction and three chapters. In the introduction, after Ottoman ruled over Mardin, the elements and the role and activities of these elements being the local representation of central government until the investigated period have been given without the details. In order to be well understood, especially the definition of the court registries has been made and its importance in the Ottoman historical research has been emphasized. In the first chapter, the function of Ottoman Shari?a law court in Mardin, the staff working at the law court, various lawsuits and records have been evaluated within the frame of opportunities by the court book. In the second chapter, the local application of the Ottoman administrative structure between 1858-1861 has been explained. The information in the court book related to administrative authorities being local representation of central governmental system has been included in this chapter. And in the last chapter, the communities in Mardin, these communities being socially organized both against each other and in itself, and the impacts of it on the economical life of the city have been emphasized.
