Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the school readiness levels of 4-to-6-year-old children and their parents' allowance for risky play. The sample of this survey model consisted of 420 four-to-six-year-old children attending preschool institutions in the central districts of Van (Tuşba, İpekyolu and Edremit) and their parents. The data were collected with the personal information form prepared by the researcher, the Developmental Primary School Readiness Scale-Short Form prepared by Sak and Yorgun (2024) and the Risky Game Allowance Scale for 4-6 Years Children developed by Ünüvar ve Kanyılmaz (2017). As a result of the study, a positive and significant relationship was found between the primary school readiness levels of children and their parents' allowance for risky play. It was also determined that children's readiness levels for primary school were high and that there was a statistically significant difference in their readiness levels based on the number of siblings of the children, and the educational status, ages and duration of marriage of parents. Moreover, parents' allowance for risky play was low, and it differed based on the child's duration of attending preschool education and the educational status of the parents.
