Abstract (EN)
SUMMARY Children with hearing loss are individuals who differ significantly from their peers in terms of their individual characteristics and educational qualifications for various reasons. This research was conducted with the aim of benefiting the society by revealing the differences and difficulties experienced by children with hearing loss who are educated in the Rehabilitation Center and using devices, and by offering suggestions. This research was carried out to investigate the description of the phonological and memory states of children with hearing loss between the ages of 5-12. The research was conducted on 44 children with hearing loss who were educated at the Anaeli Special Education and Rehabilitation Center in Bağcılar, Istanbul. While obtaining the data, 4 evaluation tests were applied to the disabled group with hearing loss. In the research, descriptive method scanning model, which is one of the quantitative research methods, was used. Ankara Articulation Test, Peabody Picture-Word Test, ROSS Information Processing and Evaluation Test and Raven Colored Progressive Matrices Tests were applied to children with hearing loss in the research group. According to the results of the Ankara Articulation Test; It was determined that there was a statistically significant decrease in the chronological and test ages of the children with hearing loss (P<0.05). According to the results of the Peabody Picture-Word Test; A statistically significant decrease was found between the chronological ages and the receptive language ages of children with hearing loss (P<0.05). According to the results of Ross Information Processing and Evaluation Test and Raven Colored Progressive Matrices Test; It was found that there was no significant difference according to gender in children with hearing loss (P<0.05). It has been determined that hearing loss has negative reflections on articulation, language development and receptive language skills in children. It was determined that information processing, thinking skills and intelligence levels did not differ significantly according to hearing loss and gender. In this study, although there was no significant difference in information processing, thinking skills and intelligence levels in children with hearing loss, it was determined that men had lower scores than women. In children with risk factors such as hearing loss; Tests for language development, articulation disorders and receptive language development should be performed by experts in the field when hearing loss is diagnosed and hearing aids or cochlear implants are used. In accordance with the results of the screening and evaluation program, children and parents should be properly informed and guided to start appropriate therapy training as soon as possible.
