Abstract (EN)

In this graduate study, the effects of a 6-week alternating change of direction and plyometric training on physical parameters in young male basketball players were investigated. This study divided 34 young men's basketball players in the local league into the experimental group (age = 16.06 ± 0.56) and the active control group (age = 15.82 ± 0.39). The players were subjected to anthropometric measurement and physical performance tests such as sprint (5m and 10m), agility (T-Test with and without the ball), jump (Countermovement jump and Squat jump), and repetitive sprint ability test (RSA), and technical skill tests such as dynamic and static shooting test before the training program. According to the findings of the study, after six weeks of training, the plyometric+ change of direction running group improved in 5m (p<0.05), 10m (p<0.05), T-Test without a ball (p<0.05), T-Test with ball (p<0.05), Countermovement jump (p<0.05), Squat jump (p<0.05), repeated sprint ability test best time (p<0. 05), repeated-sprint ability test worst time (p<0.05), repetitive sprint ability test total time (p<0.05), dynamic shot (p<0.05) and static shot (p<0.05) test values compared to the control group. There was no statistically significant difference between the groups in the fatigue index of the repeated sprint ability test. According to these results, it was observed that 6-week combined plyometric and directional running training contributed positively to the speed, agility, jumping, RSA, and shooting skills of young basketball players.
