Abstract (EN)
In the historical studies, Ser'iyye Registry Books, one of the archival sources of the Ottoman Empire, are first-hand sources containing detailed information about the administrative, judicial, social, cultural, military and economic issues of that period. Ayıntâb Şer'iyye Registry numbered 67 was formed by recording the cases processed in Ayıntab Court between h.1128/1129 m.1716/1717 and the documents sent from other authorities. Sections 218-427 of the registry were studied, and 318 documents in 112 sheets were examined. In these documents, in addition to legal matters such as marriage, dowry, alimony, appointment of a guardian, estate-inheritance, purchase-sale, foundation, crime and punishment, administrative matters are also included. By examining the Ser'iyye Registry, evaluations were made on the functioning of the Ottoman legal system, the administrative mechanism of Ayıntâb, its demographic structure, cultural traces, the social, economic and religious life of the people, agriculture, livestock, commercial production-consumption capacity in the city. The goal of this research is to contribute to the urban history studies of the Ottoman Empire by using Ottoman archive sources. Keywords: Ser'iyye Registry, Court, Muslim Judge, Ayıntâb
