The validity and reliability of pediatric cancer quality of life inventory in 7-18 years old children

The Validity and Reliability of Pediatric Cancer Quality of Life İnventorty in 7-18 Years Old Children.This study was metodically verified for the purpose of improving the scale of life quality of children with cancer 7-18 years old.The study data was obtained by 101 children whose cancer diagnosis at Ankara University, Gazi University and Hacettepe University Medical Faculties Pediatric Hematology ? Oncology Clinics.First of all, to determine characters of life quality scales and disease specific life quality scales was examined that literature.Second, having improved on the basis of the relevant characters and consist of 41 items the life quality scale children with cancer have been included two forms such as child and parent.Third, for the validity of this scale, the opinion of the specialist were taken.Fourth the scales construction validity is used The Basis Companent Analysis. Result of The Basis Companent Analysis is founded 13 factors. For this reason, is accepted the scale that have one factor building. Confirmatory Factor Analysis is not practiced on the scale. Because number of patiens in this study inadequate for Confirmatory Factor Analysis.İn the reliability analysis for test- retest analysis is practiced t test on the scale. And, is founded the scale doesnt change according to time. (Child t = 0.73, p = 0,465; Parent t = 0,89, p = 0,373). The scales Cronbch alfa values child r = ,980 and parent r = ,982.The reliability of the item total score for child is founded. Analysis of the item total score is calculates with item total score correlation and Pearson Correlations. After item analysis, Child Scale have been inclueded 33 items, and Parent Scale have been included 32 items. Value of the correlation for the reliability is founded between Child Scale and Parent Scale. (r = ,736)For analysis of internal consistency reliability of The PCQLİ / 7-18 ( The Pediatric Cancer Quality of Life inventory / 7-18 ) is calculeted Cronbach Alfa. Values of the Cronbach alfa for Child scale is ,881, and Parent Scale is ,860. These results are showed that the scale items very homogeneous with each other.As a result, the level of the validity and reliability af the new improverd ?The Pediatric Cancer Quality of Life İnventory / 7-18 ? is founded high.
