Abstract (EN)

In this study, we aimed to investigate the effects of 8-week suspension exercises unified with basketball training in 12-14 years old basketball players on balance, agility and vertical jump performances. 26 male volunteer basketball players with an average age of 13 years participated in our study. Volunteers have regularly trained 90 minutes of basketball for 3 days a week for at least 1 year. The participating athletes were randomly divided into a control group (n = 13) and an experimental group (n = 13). The athletes in the experimental group performed suspension exercise three times a week for 8 weeks in addition to routine basketball training. The control group continued to basketball practice three days a week, but did not perform additional training. The anthropometrics and the biomotors were measured at the beginning of the study as pre-test (T1) and post-test (T2). SPSS version 18.0 was used for statistical analysis and evaluation of the data. In order to determine whether statistically significant differences exist between the control and the experimental group, we used Mann-Whitney U tests for the non-normal distributions variables and independent sample t-test for normal distribution variables. In order to determine whether there is any difference between the tests applied to control and experimental groups, we used paired t-test for normal distribution variables and Wilcoxon signed rank test for non-normal distribution variables. The variance homogeneity of the paired t-test was tested with the Levene Test. Welch corrected t-test was applied when variance homogeneity was not provided, and the results were interpreted according to these values, p <0.01 and p <0.05 were considered as statistically significant. As a result of the tests performed in our study, there were no significant differences in the training age, height, body mass, body mass index, right and left leg length measurements (p> 0.05). After 8 weeks, significant differences were found in the balance and vertical jump parameters (p <0.01), (p <0.05) of the athletes in the experimental group. The difference in agility parameters was found to be statistically insignificant (p> 0.05). As a result of basketball workouts combined with 8-week suspension studies, while having an effect on balance ability and vertical jump ability, it can be said that there is no effect on agility. Key words; Basketball; Suspension Training; Vertical Jump; Balance; Agility.
