Structural and periodical analysis of clarinet performance in Vivaldi's concerto for two oboes, two clarinets and strings (RV560)

When the life and production of A. Vivaldi, one of the composers of the Baroque Period (1600-1750), is analyzed, it is seen that he positioned the clarinet instrument in an important place. Especially in A. Vivaldi's concerto RV 560, which he composed for two oboes and two clarinets, it is seen that he uses all the features of the Baroque clarinet. It can be said that the work contributed greatly to the formation of the Baroque identity of the clarinet instrument. In this respect, the aim of this study was to analyze the composer's clarinet concerto RV 560 for two oboes, two clarinets and strings structurally and periodically. In the research, first of all, the historical development process of the clarinet and clarinet systems were analyzed and its functionality in the baroque period was discussed. In this context, this concerto, which is thought to be one of the important phases of clarinet development, was analyzed formally in terms of clarinet performance and an attempt was made to shed light on the development of the instrument in the Baroque period. Thus, the position of the clarinet in the Baroque period, its use in orchestras and its place in Baroque concertos were explained technically. In addition, references were also made to other clarinet works written in the Baroque period that have not yet been analyzed. Throughout the research, it is thought that addressing the Baroque period adventure of the clarinet in both sociological and technical terms is effective in illuminating the building blocks leading to the history of the instrument in question.
