Abstract (EN)

In this study, we have analysed city elegies. These are a type of litrary text that occupied an important place in Arabic literature since the era of Jahiliyya. And we have taken comparative study of elegies of the Andalusian and Abbasid periods as a basis for our analysis. We made literary analyses of the main city elegies that were written during the Abbasid and Andalusian periods, examined the lives and literary personalities of their poets, and discussed the historical processes that led to the writing of the elegy. Afterwards, we tried to evaluate the odes mentioned in terms of language and style by translating them from Arabic to Turkish. Subsequently, we concluded our work by making comparisons between the two periods within the framework of literary elements. Our study consists of an introduction and three chapters. In the first chapter, the type of elegies and city elegies in Arabic Literature are examined. Dictionary and term meanings of the elegy were examined, and the topics covered in elegies were explained. Afterwards, the birth of city elegies is handled and its development in all literary periods is expressed with examples. In the second chapter, the Abbasid, and in the third chapter, how the Andalusian period city elegies came into being and the development process are discussed, with examples given of elegies written as a result of different historical events. In the conclusion part the different and common aspects within the framework of the city elegies written in the two periods have been considered and compared, while maintaining the consistency of the subject in the discussion.
