The work of abd al-Rahman al-Bistâmî nazm al-Sulûk fî Musârama al-Mulûk and its place in Ottoman history writing

The emergence of the first historical monuments in the Ottoman period falls with a time when a century has passed since the establishment of the Ottoman Empire that is 15th century. Therefore, this situation makes historical works written valuable at that time. The work we have studied has been written during the period when the first Ottoman history books began to be written. In the study, firstly, the births, deaths, readings and writings of Bistami and related persons and geography were taken up. This part was tried to be revealed by making use of the classical studies mentioned Bistami and the works on Bistami and their works, and referring to Bistami's own works. In the first part, after determining who the author is, in the second part the work of Bistami was dealt with Nazm as-Suluk fi Musaramat al-Muluk. At first, he manuscript has been reached in writing. Later on, the works were handled in terms of the contents of the work, sources, style, writing date, etc., using the copies that we could reach. In the third part of our work, the place of the work in Ottoman historiography was discussed. It is evaluated in terms of the subject, the period he wrote, the subjects he dealt with, Moving the writing of classical Islamic history together with Mamluk history writing to the Ottoman Empire and authors who may have been influenced. As a result, both the author and the work were found to have an important place in the world of science of the Ottoman Empire, more particularly in the Ottoman historiography.
