Abstract (EN)
It has been reported that different blood groups may be associated with the risk of developing chronic degenerative diseases, particularly those involving inflammatory and neoplastic processes. Recent studies indicate that blood cell ratios may be a reliable prognostic factor in determining low-grade systemic inflammation. The purpose of this study was to look for probable correlations between numerous inflammatory biomarkers and blood index values that represent the extent of systemic inflammation in the body, as well as the ABO and Rh blood type systems. For this purpose, the files of patients who applied to Ankara Etlik City Hospital's Internal Medicine Outpatient Clinic between 2023 and 2024 were retrospectively analysed. Accordingly, data from a total of 1051 individuals aged 18–65 with a body mass index within the normal range, no chronic medication use, and no inflammatory comorbidities were included in the study. Data on age, gender, blood group, inflammatory biomarkers, haemogram values, and systemic inflammatory indices calculated from these haemogram values were analyzed with the SPSS package. According to the results of the analysis, various systemic inflammatory biomarkers and systemic inflammation index values in blood differed statistically significantly between age groups and genders. CRP levels in group B were statistically significantly higher than in all other groups, and Neutrophil/Lymphocyte ratio and Leukocyte/Lymphocyte ratio values in Rh+ individuals were statistically significantly higher than in Rh- individuals. Furthermore, it has been determined that the blood index most strongly correlated with inflammatory biomarkers in the blood is MPV/PLT. In conclusion, the higher levels of subclinical chronic inflammation markers found in individuals with O and B blood types may be a valuable indicator for predicting the risk of developing metabolic disease in these individuals.
