Abstract (EN)

Uşak carpet is the most known and most important part of Turkish carpet art. Turkish carpet art, which started in the Middle Asia with Pazırık carpets and improved in Turkistan came to the Anatolia with The Seljuk Empire. The most magnificent artifacts were produced in the subsequent Anatolian Seljuk Empire and Ottoman Empire periods in the 16th century. Uşak Carpet's reputation spread throughout the world and even depicted by famous painters. Uşak Carpet became one of the most important export products of the state upon increasing demand together with fabric and cloth weaving during the Ottoman Empire period. Usak carpets are divided into groups according to their motif and composition characteristics. Uşak carpets woven in very large sizes were made for mosques and palaces. As a result of our research, we have seen that Usak carpentry has been applied barely to the Ottoman archive records and studies have been done too few on this subject. In our thesis, the documents in the Department of Ottoman Archives are examined and Carpet weawing in Uşak, establishment of spinning mills for increased demand of carpet traders coming from abroad, increased employment opportunities, carpet exports, the reaction of the people against the mechanization titles was evaluated as a result of reading the documents.
